Die katholische Diözese Lugano in der Schweiz hat einen neuen Exorzisten ernannt. Das Bedürfnis nach einem Teufelsaustreiber sei so groß, dass man die seit 2020 vakante Stelle neu besetzt habe, hieß es zur Begründung, wie der Sender SRF am Mittwoch berichtete.

In den vergangenen Jahren hätten gläubige Katholiken aus dem Bistum Lugano in Italien Hilfe gesucht. In Como etwa sei ein telefonischer Dienst für diejenigen in Betrieb, die einen Exorzisten suchten.

In den Diözesen der Deutschschweiz hingegen gibt es dem Bericht zufolge keine Exorzisten. In St. Gallen zum Beispiel versuche man, auf die Fragen der Gläubigen mit einem Team von Experten aus Religion und Wissenschaft zu antworten.

Um den Beruf des Exorzisten auszuüben, sei eine universitäre Ausbildung in Rom erforderlich. Die Exorzisten seien in einem internationalen Verband zusammengeschlossen, der offiziell vom Papst anerkannt sei und 900 Mitglieder zähle.

Katherine Murry, whom I saw on Wednesday, inclines to think that most people have grasped neither war nor peace. Two or three weeks ago I heard a citizen holding forth to a lady in the train, who asked him whether he thought there would be peace. "I hope not. ... We're giving them everything they want & getting nothing."

Since then it is difficult to see how the most bloodthirsty citizens can squeeze anything more out of Germany. The Kaiser still wears a phantom kind of crown. Otherwise there is revolution, & a kind of partial awakenment, one fancies, on the part of the people to the unreality of the whole affair. Suppose we wake up too?
